About us

The Tanks of Anekal project has been funded by the faculty grants scheme of the Research Centre of Azim Premji University. With this website there’s no need to sift through countless government websites for hours on end. Instead, we provide a comprehensive, easy-to-understand overview of urban lakes, ensuring that valuable information is both accessible and actionable. It has been designed and implemented by:

Meet the Team

Kaustubh Rau

Faculty in the School of Arts and Sciences, Kaustubh Rau is a biologist interested in uncovering the changing aspects of our relationship with nature. He started this project because of the rapid pace of destruction that he observed during his bird-watching trips to Anekal’s tanks. He would like the website to catalyse change in the way people think about natural resources by becoming familiar with tanks close to where they live, develop a relationship with them  and get involved in attempts to conserve them.

She has worked in the field of hydro-glaciology in High Mountain Asia at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Recently, she has been working as a Hydrogeologist, employing GIS and remote sensing to understand Bengaluru’s shallow aquifers for water security in diverse settings. She is working on the Tanks of Anekal project dedicated to demystifying the intricacies of hydrological lake systems, streamline and democratize this data, ensuring that all end-users can easily grasp the essentials and make informed decisions.
